A parkland routing, refined by time.

Dan Maples created the original Providence layout through mature Charlotte hardwoods. The club credits Mike Gleason with a later redesign and Kris Spence with a major renovation completed in 2018. The result remains a course that rewards position and thoughtful approaches.

Members describe the design in the same handful of words: subtle, honest, walkable. The par-72 course rolls gently across a corridor of oak and pine. Water comes into play on a small but decisive set of holes; bunkers are placed where they should be, not where they photograph best.

Signature moments

A short par four early in the round tempts players into a decision they'll second-guess for the rest of the day. The closing stretch, framed by water and the clubhouse veranda, is one of the more memorable finishes among Charlotte's private clubs — dramatic enough to matter in a member-guest, generous enough to stay fair for the weekend player.

Practice facilities.

Providence's practice complex has been renewed in recent years and now includes a full-length grass tee, target greens, a short-game area with practice bunkers of varying character, and a dedicated putting green in view of the clubhouse.
